New, Need Help Choosing
Hey, I am fairly new to this game, so far I have made:
Level 7 Warrior/Monk <--- I really liked this mix, but I don't think I used it to it's fullest potential Level 5 Paragon/Ranger <--- I was testing a build that burned enemies but it didn't work too well Level 5 Monk/Mesmer <--- I had a hard time killing enemies fast enough... I liked some of the above mixes, but I need a good build for 1st time players that will help me bring out their fullest potential. Can someone help me choose a class? I would like to: Type: PvE (to start) Class: I don't really know, I've having a hard time picking: --- Monk (It's good, but I think it is boring sitting there healing) --- Warrior (I kind of liked this class, but it's hard tanking without good gear being new to this game) --- Necromancer (Never tried it, it interests me but I have barely any skills in this class) --- Ranger (I like them but they're not team supportive and are weak) --- Mesmer (I wouldn't know how to manage them) Style: I'd like to be a supportive player to my team (I mean my heroes and stuff) and also be able to solo monsters Goals: What class+build do you guys think will help me reach level 20 the quickest and help me solo+team support the easiest? Please help, thanks... I've spent hours reading builds on this forum... Last edited by Peli; Apr 04, 2007 at 10:26 PM // 22:26.. |

I would love it if someone gave me a good build that's for 1st time players that included a Monk maybe as the second or first profession... I really like Monks.

Well... when you start out you cannot be fully equipped, you just cannot. When you make money and start another character LATER ON, then you can do the (disputed) practice of getting ran/power leveledto get your useful skills and armor.
W/Mo is a standard build, to keep yourself up and be able to dish out damage (well mainly in PVP) and tank (in PVE). But in PVE you can only solo using special gimmicky builds. Guild Wars is not about fighting solo. You could use hero/hench, but that's different from solo as we know it here. Supporting your team and dealing damage, is normally going to be a ritualist or paragon's job. Ritualists are from Cantha (Factions). Paragons are in elona, you have one. |

What about A Dervish / Monk or a Paragon / Monk?
I need something that can: - Dish out damage to multiple enemies - Survive a 30 second battle with heals / buffs - Protect heroes for time That's why I think I need Dervish / Monk, that's probably my final choice... Last edited by Peli; Apr 04, 2007 at 10:33 PM // 22:33.. |

ok i think i have a cure to this. try an elementalist. they hit mulitiple enemies, they can heal themselves with aura of resoration, they are team supportive by killing enemies really fast and all at once. try a fire ele but it will take time to get enough skills to be a full blown nuker. so just be patient with it and i garentie (sp lol) that it will be the best char youve ever made. just go with any thing as secondary, you pretty much only want the nuker skills anyway. give it a shot -Spartan117

Your joking right? Rangers are versatile and fleaxible, and can play a number of different roles. Rangers are be support, damage dealers, condition spreaders, interrupters and more... If you call them weak, you just have no idea how to play the class. Rangers have some of the highest armour rating in the game. I don't blame you since your new, but you should really spend much more time which each class before dismissing any of them.

hoestly you need to play and see what you like. My favorite is the ranger, but everyone will tell you something different. Until you get to level 20 with any character it will be hard to tell how good they are.
